JEANIE'S STORY
CINCINNATI, APRIL 7, 2000
I had already seen the KITH show in Detroit and I was quite disappointed
with my seats. Well, when I had heard that they were extending
the tour I grabbed tix for the closest show to me, Cincinnati.
Comedy Central also had a last-minute contest going to meet KITH.
I won, but the tickets were for Louisville and they called me
the same day as the show to tell me! There was no way that I could
get there in time so I had told them that I was already attending
the Cincinnati show. They called me later telling me that Cincinnati
would be acceptable.
Well, my friend and I packed ourselves up for the 4 hour drive.
The weather was horrible! There were tornado sirens going off
everywhere in the Ohio Valley and it was almost impossible to
see where we were going, but we made it.
The show was great! We had front row seats. (I had sold my other
seats to someone on the KITH ring) After the show we were taken
backstage by Himelfarb. It was so exciting. Dave was totally out
of it, I have no idea what he was on. I had looked over and Bruce
was sitting on a couch with a beer. He motioned over for me to
come sit next to him. He is a real gentleman too. When I went
to sit he had put a throw pillow behind my back and even got up
to get me a water from the mini fridge! We talked for quite a
while. My friend and I then excused ourselves to go upstairs where
we heard Mark and Kevin was. When we got up there we were with
the general population and the security was trying to get everyone
out of the building, including us! We kept screaming that we had
backstage passes and this female security guard was trying to
physically force us out of the building! Well, she got my friend,
but not me. I ran for the door and made it back downstairs to
where Bruce was. I immediately had notified Himelfarb that they
threw my friend out and he sent someone for her.
Well, things backstage were winding down and Bruce asked us back
to his hotel bar for drinks! Of course we went. We talked for
hours and then said our good-byes. Bruce is a really good guy
and he is not swayed by airhead girls trying to throw themselves
at him.
DETROIT 2002
Now for the second encounter! Tour 2002. I had gotten tickets
for both the Toronto show and the Detroit show. (I paid 300 for
front row seats in Detroit from a scalper, yeah I know, I'm a
bad little girl) Well I had really shitty tix for the TO show
and I didn't even try to get backstage. Not so for the Detroit
show. I had brought a picture of Bruce and I from the 2000 show
for him to sign. I had asked a security guy to get it to Bruce
for him to sign. The security guy told me to wait after the show.
I did, and it paid off. Bruce totally remembered me! He gave me
a total double take when he came out! I thought at first because
I had like 3 drinks on the stage using it as my table!
Well, after the show I was waiting for the security guard and
Bruce comes out to the side of the stage and grabs a security
guy. He points to us and said something to him. Just then Bruce
leaves and that guy came over. He said, 'Bruce wants you and whoever
you are with to come backstage!" I couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!
Well, we had gotten in this line to go backstage and that same
security guy came over and yelled, in front of everyone and pointing
to my friend and I,
"Bruce wants these girls to go in first!" I almost died!
Well, we had gotten downstairs and there he was. He immediately
greeted me with a hug and said,
'Hi Jeannie" He remembered my name (!!!!) and even asked
about some things that I had told him 2 years prior. We talked
for a while and again he had gotten my friend and I some water.
Some male fan was pretty pissed about that. He was over in the
corner saying,
"Oh, I guess you have to be pretty to get a water" You
know, with Bruce, it's not like that. He is totally drawn to personality
and you can tell that. He said that is why he was 'drawn' to me.
I totally kept my cool and I did not ask him to reenact KITH scenes
all night. We talked as two ordinary people; who cares if he if
famous or not? He is a truly unique and nice guy (not like some
other KITH members,,,DAVE!). Well, after talking for a few, we
hugged and said our good-byes and I was told that I was welcome
to come see him at any of his shows. And that is my story.
